About the Region

Anglesey:
Beauty and tranquility are the order of the day here in North Wales. Majestic mountains and a wonderful coastline create scenery not to be missed and the chance to explore two quite diverse environments.
Because of its fertile land, which provided much of the grain for Wales, Anglesey is known of old as Mon Mam Cymru (Anglesey Mother of Wales) and is a real Treasure Island. Sheep grazed fields roll down to a varied and exciting coastline where you will find little rocky coves, long sandy beaches, and some extraordinary bird sanctuaries. Great sailing and windsurfing coasts can also be found in the area.
The island of Anglesey also offers the holiday maker fascinating pre-historic sites, Druid burial chambers, hut circles and standing stones. No visit to Anglesey is complete without a trip to Wales’ most famous railway station Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

Snowdonia:
Climbers and walkers from all over the world are drawn to Snowdonia National Park as it is a walker’s paradise with hundreds of paths of varying degrees of difficulty. Towering mountains, foothills rolling down to the coast, beautiful valleys, lakes and alpine villages create scenery that can be enjoyed all the year round. The university town of Bangor is home to a 12th century cathedral, museum and a Victorian Gothic castle at Penrhyn. From the lakeside town of Llanberis you can join the cog railway to the top of Snowdonia or, for the more energetic there are several well documented footpaths to the summit. Enjoy the pubs and restaurants and the excellent shops specialising in Welsh crafts, local produce, climbing gear and outdoor clothes when you visit Betws y Coed.

The Lleyn Peninsula
The stunning, sweeping coastline of Lleyn Peninsula has a backdrop of the foothills of Snowdonia, criss crossed by footpaths to delight the walker. Between Aberdaron, departure point for Bardsey Island one of Wales’s Holy Islands, and the bustling resorts of Abersoch, Porthmadog and Pwllheli lie some of the loveliest beaches of North Wales, sandy coves in unspoilt rural surroundings.
